Our project started with a quick trip to Hardware Hawaii located in Mapunapuna to pick up some cedar fencing for our garden box no. 2. Cedar is pretty inexpensive and best of all it is termite resistant, or so they say it is. At $4.19 a 6' plank you can't go wrong. Nine of those and a 8' 4x4 will make you a 6' x 3' garden box 18" deep.

After the construction of the box was done, we gathered rocks from around the house and lined the bottom for drainage. The inside of the box consisted of 2/3 organic dirt (Menehune Magic) and 1/3 peat moss. Kate had a blast playing in the dirt. She thoroughly inspected the quality and deemed it satisfactory. Thanks for your help Kate!
